Lives and works in Ireland
I am an Ireland-based artist exploring the rich intersections of the occult and global mythology. Working primarily on paper with black Indian ink—utilising fineliners, brushes, and dip pens—I occasionally punctuate the monochromatic pieces with a sporadic flash of a signature colour. Through these intricate drawings, I weave native Irish folklore together with Egyptian, Greek, and indigenous mythos, creating modern symbolic tapestries that bridge ancient cultures and narratives.
Deeply rooted in historical research, the practice is as much about study as it is about illustration. I frequently explore and overlay multiple historical theories within a single piece, highlighting the hidden connections between disparate cultures and their myths. Because this research is fundamental to the process, I invite viewers to delve deeper into these narratives through short essays available on my website. Furthermore, the recurring motifs in the drawings are catalogued in an interactive symbol index, allowing the audience to actively decode the complex visual language embedded in each work.
Ultimately, this exploration is driven by a belief that understanding our history grounds us in a sacred connection to our land, our people, and our sense of place. This art aims to spark curiosity about Ireland’s unique heritage while allowing a visually synthesis to emerge through continued, ongoing enquiry. The ancient past is often filled with contradictory narratives, but by holding these paradoxical interpretations together in a single piece, I believe the artwork reveals a deeper, more resonant truth than any singular historical opinion ever could.
